End of the recession…?

By at home

The number of unemployed people has actually fallen for the first time in 18 months. At the end of November the number of people out of work was 2.46 million, down by 7,000 on figures released three months before that. And it’s good news for the beleaguered age group the 16-24-year-olds; the number of jobless dropped from 943,000 to 927,000.

Tentative speculation by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has stated that the UK may be poking its head out of the recession, too. A spokesman said the UK economy is on the ‘brink of leaving recession’. In its economic survey for the fourth quarter of 2009, the BCC says there have been improvements in many areas, most strikingly in manufacturing and exports in the service sector.
